Resin-Coated Paper Enlargements
Resin-coated (RC) papers are made with a water-resistent coating that reduces processing time. They are a cost-effective choice; however, they are not archivally processsed and do not have the image permanence of fiber-based papers. I use SISTAN treatment to improve their stability.
The RC papers normally used are Ilford Multigrade IV, Multigrade IV Warmtone, and Multigrade Cool Tone.
Fiber-Based Paper Enlargements
Preferred by museums and galleries, fiber-based (FB) silver gelatin prints are archivally processed for image permanence and stability. Each paper responds differently to toners, resulting in subtle to dramatic effects. Examples of paper and toner combinations are available during consultation.
The FB papers normally used are Ilford Multigrade IV FB and Ilford Multigrade FB Warmtone.
