Producing the Digital Negative (an example)

Step 1 |
67 Velvia transparency is scanned. |

Step 2 |
Color transparency is converted to black and white. |

Step 3 |
Positive image is manipulated according to the client's instructions. (A test print closely approximating the final print will be sent to the client for approval.) |

Step 4 |
The positive image is then inverted to a negative for specific paper curve. |

Step 5 |
The negative is printed on film-base inkjet material, using Epson K3 pigments at 360 dpi. |
Step 6
The negative is contact printed onto Ilford Multigrade IV FB or Ilford Warmtone FB, then toned, processed, and prepared for mounting and exhibition.
